Kent Farts

I'm sure Kent will be thrilled that I'm sharing this with the blogosphere, but I have to say that he's a very gassy baby. This causes him more than a little discomfort at times, including the middle of the night when we'd all just like to go back to sleep, but we can't because he's sad and in pain. We help him work out his gas, and eventually he feels better, but we do lose sleep over it.

Sometimes he coughs and farts at the same time, which is about the funniest thing ever. In the past week or so, Jack has taken to calling Kent a Blast-Ended Skrewt, just like the magical creatures in the Harry Potter books.

We're currently in Jack's office, having just finished a nice lunch, and Kent started crying really loudly because of his gas. Jack laid him down on the floor and brought his knees up to his chest, at which point Kent had a nice big fart. And then he did it again. And again. And he got an enormous smile on his face. I told Kent that in a few years, he was going to think farts were the funniest thing ever, so he's getting good practice in now by smiling a lot.

Jack's dad mentioned when he was here that I'd be thinking and caring more about bodily functions than I ever used to. He wasn't kidding.

That's hilarious!! (Kent smiling when he toots, that is. I am sorry he has to be in pain & cry in order to get to that point!) And I love the nickname of the Blast-Ended Skrewt. :-)
