It's only a flesh wound

But still, his first major booboo.

Kent fell on the cement at church yesterday morning, so his face is all red and scraped up. He was actually coming up to some little stairs outside, and every other time we'd been around them, he had stopped and waited for help to go down. Well, this time, he was standing next to them, turned around to see us, lost his balance, and then turned again and fell face-first onto the step below. That'll teach me to be complacent about his mobility and consequential explorations.

We just had our directory pics taken this past Thursday, and his school photo isn't for another week and a half, so I hope that he has cleverly timed his injury so as not to be recorded by a professional photographer. Just his mom. He's scabbier today than yesterday, so everything is darker red. He absolutely hates it when I go near his face, and when he went for his 15-month checkup today, the doctor and I had a heck of a time getting him to hold still long enough for her to put a tongue depressor in his mouth. She said the injury looks fine, though, so I'm hoping it'll heal soon, poor guy.

It's been one of those weeks. Faceplant with major scrapage, new bottom teeth, and getting over a cold. I feel like he's been crying and upset for about five days straight, and his sleep has been rough. He was up at 5:45 this morning; he and Jack even went outside to watch the sunrise. After a long morning playing at the park (which actually kept him pretty happy) and the ped visit this afternoon, he fell asleep in the car, and I stopped at Wendy's because *I* needed a Frosty. Maybe when he's older, he'll get one after a doctor visit, but for now, the mommy is the one who needed to be indulged, and Kent just needed to sleep the whole thing off (which he's happily doing right now). I'm getting over the same cold, and I've really been dragging and loopy today. I was in such a state this morning that, when I got in the shower, I couldn't for the life of me remember whether I had washed my hair the day before. I didn't have time to wash it anyway, so when I was getting ready, I threw on my Red Sox cap — it is October, after all — and hoped for the best. The more I look at my head, though, the more I think today was supposed to be a hair-washing day. Yeesh.

oh, oww! That looks like no fun at all. As a person who remembers doing a face plant I can vouch for terrified I was that anyone would try to touch my face...
Hugs for all the other parts!

Oh poor baby!! :(

(I totally understand about the frosty)

You know something also funny. ELlis had that same shirt this summer. Kent and Ellis are twins!!!

Every mom deserves a Frosty. And I'm sure Kent will recover beautifully. Let's hope he doesn't develop a freaky phobia about stairs. That would be weird.

Ouch! Poor thing. Good thing he has hugs & snuggles to help get better!
