Simple pleasures

I had no idea that I'd get so much pleasure from such a simple thing as teaching my son how to lick frosting off the beaters and the bowl. And he took to it like a duck to water. Happy Birthday, Jack!

(oh, and for the record, Jack picked Anilia's suggestion, the Valentine's Queen of Sheba cake from Sweet Napa — we're going to a yummy pizza place for dinner, then coming home for cake!)

Where'd you go for pizza? I love pizza so much.

The Italian Pie on Perkins. They have the best Mediterranean pizza, with pesto, herbed ricotta, tomatoes, artichokes (kalamata olives for Jack)... it's awesome. Did you guys ever go there when you lived here?

That photo is hilarious! I love it. That is something that every kid should embrace. And every adult, for that matter!

I remember being worried as a 5 or 6-year-old when Mom was pregnant with Z -- she told me that when I became a big sister, I would have to give one of the mixer beaters to my little brother or sister!

We kept meaning to, but never did! It always looked SO good, but we would end up going elsewhere when we were eating out. Maybe we'll have to make a stop next time we are in Louisiana.

Also--I can't believe how much Kent looks like a little boy instead of a baby now! He's growing so fast.

His tongue is so funny in that picture. It looks like it's going to get tangled up in the beater. I remember the days of licking cake batter (before everyone became more aware of salmonella).
